家庭话题几乎出现在每一次对话中。这里有 20 个Japanese家庭词汇和常用语,附发音、发音提示和例句 — 包括那些不可忽视的长幼与敬称之分。
The people at home
The core household words. These are the polite forms — safe with everyone, from your host family to your in-laws.
-
かぞく kazoku Family
-
おかあさん okaasan Mother
-
おとうさん otousan Father
-
りょうしん ryoushin Parents
-
おっと otto Husband
Humble — for your own husband. Someone else's husband is ごしゅじん.
-
つま tsuma Wife
Humble — for your own wife. Someone else's wife is おくさん.
Older and younger
Japanese has no plain word for "brother" or "sister" — you always declare who was born first. That one detail says a lot about how the language sees family.
-
きょうだい kyoudai Siblings
-
しまい shimai Sisters
-
おにいさん oniisan Older brother
-
おねえさん oneesan Older sister
-
おとうと otouto Younger brother
-
いもうと imouto Younger sister
Two word sets
Use おにいさん and おねえさん to address siblings or talk about someone else's; switch to the humble あに and あね when telling others about your own. Younger siblings get no honorific at all — age order is built right into the grammar.
Grandparents, aunts and uncles
Four words, one trap: the only difference between grandfather and uncle is how long you hold the vowel.
-
おじいさん ojiisan Grandfather
-
おばあさん obaasan Grandmother
-
おじさん ojisan Uncle
-
おばさん obasan Aunt
Stretch the vowel
おじいさん (grandfather) has a long じい; おじさん (uncle) a short じ. Same with おばあさん (grandmother) and おばさん (aunt). Rush the vowel and you demote grandma to auntie — a classic learner mistake Japanese families find hilarious.
Introducing your family
Children, headcounts and the question that starts every family conversation in Japan.
-
むすこ musuko Son
-
むすめ musume Daughter
-
